"THE financial crisis will last at least five more years, the Bank of England governor warned yesterday.
Sir Mervyn King’s grim assessment came as Chancellor George Osborne’s
economic plans were shredded by new figures showing a shock rise in
borrowing....And Sir Mervyn told MPs he didn’t think the UK was “halfway
though” the crisis, which started with the 2007 credit crunch.
Speaking to the Commons Treasury committee, the governor added: “My
estimates of how long it will take to recover is expanding all the
time."
