Sales of new videogame products in U.S. retail stores fell again in March, a research firm said Thursday, with console sales contracting by nearly a third as customers sat on the sidelines ahead of the expected release of new devices this holiday season.Videogame hardware, software and accessories sales in U.S. retail stores fell 10% in March to $992.5 million, down from $1.1 billion the same time a year prior, according to NPD Group. Though console sales had contracted considerably during the month, sales of actual games only fell 1%, as a bevy of new titles drew customers back to their TVs and controllers."Eight out of the top ten games were new launches, which was the first March where there were that many launches in the top 10," said Liam Callahan, an analyst at NPD, in a prepared statement.
