The unemployment rate in Italy rose more than expected in the last
quarter, where the Istat reported that Italian unemployment rate rose to
10.8 percent in June, from a revised 10.6 percent. Analysts called
unemployment to record a 10.2-percent rate.
The preliminary report for June showed that Italy`s jobless rate
neared its highest level in almost 13 years, as employers backoffed
hiring while the Italian economy shrank for a third straight quarter in
the first three month of 2012.
