Smoking Banned INSIDE Santa Monica Residences

NBC Los Angeles reports:

Smoking is already banned at beaches, parks, restaurants and near buildings in Santa Monica, but Tuesday night the city council sought to expand that prohibition and voted 4-2 to ban smoking for all new tenants of apartments and condos inside their residences – with one exception.
“It also requires existing residents to designate their units as smoking or non smoking and from then on it will be prohibited to smoke in a non smoking unit,” said Adam Radinksy, head of the Consumer Protection Unit in Santa Monica.
This is really mad government interventionism. If I am going to buy or rent an apartment, as a non-smoker, I am going to pay attention to whether an apartment reeks of smoke or not. If it does, I am likely to ignore it, or, if I really like the place, I will see how much it will cost to get rid of the smell, if that can be done.

No need for Santa Monica central planners to mess with my decisions.

This kind of creeping central planning will never stop, without a major change in attitude by the creepy planners.
