Violent crime spiked 17% last year: DOJ - MarketWatch
Violent crime spiked 17% in the U.S. last year, driven by a surge in
assaults, the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics said
Wednesday. U.S. residents 12 or older suffered an estimated 5.8 million
violent victimizations and 17.1 million property victimizations, the
agency said, citing data from the annual National Crime Victimization
Survey. The increase was largely due to a 22% rise in the number of
aggravated and simple assaults but there was no significant change in
the number of rapes or sexual assaults and robberies. "While the
percentage change in violent crime from 2010 to 2011 is relatively
large, the actual difference between the rates for those years is below
the average annual change in violent crime over the past two decades,"
the bureau noted. "The low rates make the percentage change large, but
crime still remains at historically low levels." All told, since 1993,
the rate of violent victimization has fallen 72%
I would like to see the statistic on Law Officer induced violent crime, no doubt that is through the roof as Cops have a free pass to do what ever they want these days. The beatings will continue until Moral improves.
