Former New York City mayor Edward Koch died at age 88 early Friday after being in and out of the hospital in recent weeks, a spokesperson said according to media reports. The former mayor, who was famous for his "How'm I doing" tagline, entered office in 1978 and left in 1989 after a defeat to David Dinkins. The former mayor is remembered for saving the city from financial ruin. After he left city hall, Koch continued to write movies, review food and judge on "The People's Court."

Rest in Peace Mr. Mayor, The world truly is a Circus.
