Following the closings on Sept. 21, Stop & Shop will no longer
have a presence in New Hampshire. The locations of the stores and gas
stations to close include Bedford, Hudson, Exeter, Milford, and two in
Manchester, N.H., the company said.
The stores range in size from 55,000 square feet to 65,000 square
feet, although the one in Manchester is about 80,000 square feet in
size.
“We continually assess our stores and operating performance,” said Joseph Kelley,
president of Stop & Shop New England Division, in a statement. “Our
six stores in New Hampshire have not achieved performance goals after
many years of investment, and we have made the difficult decision to
close these
