Sens. Reid, McConnell trade barbs on shutdown
Remarks by top senators on Wednesday indicated no progress on ending the
government shutdown. Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid chided Republicans
for proposing "cockamamie, can't pass" ideas, and the Nevada Democrat
urged them to pass a clean continuing resolution. Meanwhile, Sen.
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Kentucky Republican, likened the
rollout of the Affordable Care Act to a trip to the DMV. He said
Democrats chose a shutdown over fairness for refusing a delay of the
Obamacare individual mandate.
