Butina was arrested and jailed last week by the Department of Justice after being indicted by federal prosecutors for being a spy for Russia.
In April 2015, Butina took part in two meetings with Fischer and Sheets to discuss the Obama administration’s stance toward improving U.S.-Russian economic relations.
