“The parochial vicar was awakened around 6 o’clock Sunday morning by the Brookfield police ringing the doorbell at our rectory. That was when we first found out about it,” Deacon Peter Kuhn told the News Times. “We have some cameras by the school, but nothing that I’ve heard indicates there’s any concrete evidence yet [as to who vandalized the church].”
Catholic churches often provide sanctuary for people who are facing deportation, but Saint Joseph’s has not. Still, the Deacon does not believe the message was aimed at the church itself.
