Former investment banker Jerome Powell was sworn Friday in as a member
of the Federal Reserve Board, the central bank announced. Powell, a
former partner in the private equity firm, the Carlyle Group LP

was confirmed to a Fed seat with a term expiring in January 2014.
Powell and Harvard professor Jeremy Stein were confirmed by the Senate
last week. Once Stein is sworn in, the Fed will be at full strength with
seven governors for the first time since 2006
