Earthquakes kill at least 50 in southwest China - MarketWatch
At least 50 people were killed and another 150 injured Friday when
several earthquakes rocked southwestern China along the borders of the
province of Guizhou and Yunnan, the Associated Press reported. The
quakes began with a 5.6 magnitude quake at around 11:30 a.m. local time,
followed by a second quake of equal magnitude and at least 60
aftershocks. According to state media reports, the quakes damaged
approximately 200,000 homes. About 100,000 people were believed to have
been evacuated from the area, with most of the casualties reported in
the Yunnan province.
