Bank of England leaves monetary policy unchanged - MarketWatch
The Bank of England on Thursday said its Monetary Policy Committee left
its key interest rate and the size of its asset-buying program
unchanged, as expected. The bank's key rate remains at a record low
0.5%, where it has stood since March 2009. The program of asset
purchases, the centerpiece of the bank's quantitative-easing strategy,
was also unchanged at 375 billion pounds ($604 billion). The program was
expanded by 50 billion euros in July, with purchases set to continue
until next month. "The scale of the program will be kept under review,"
the BOE said, in a statement.
