A Union Pacific train, which was mostly empty, derailed Thursday morning near Aledo, injuring one crew member, officials said.
The crew member was taken to a local hospital, but a condition was not available.
The train with two locomotives and 46 cars derailed about 5 a.m. Thursday.
“We don’t have a cause yet,” said Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis Thursday in a telephone interview. “The train was going from a side track to a main line when it derailed.”
Seven cars and two locomotives went off the tracks in the incident, Davis said. Six of the cars were empty and the other car contained cement, officials said.
Of the 46 cars, 37 were empty, Davis said.
The train had traveled into Tarrant County on its way from Tucson, Ariz., to Dallas.
Davis said it would take crews most of the day to get the derailment cleared.
