Japan finance minister Aso in hot water over Nazi comment

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/08/02/world/asia/japan-politician-nazi-comment/?hpt=ias_c2

According to reports last night he suggested that Japan should follow the nazi example of how to change the country’s constitution stealthily and without public debate. He retracted the statement amid bitter protests from neighboring countries and human rights groups, but has today refused to resign or apologies over the remarks. He said his comments were misunderstood and only meant to say that loud debate over changing the post-war constitution is not helpful.
The government has said it will not be seeking his resignation either.
It’s not the first, or likely to be the last time the finance minister has put his foot in it.
Among other comments he once accused the elderly of being a burden on society an joked about Alzheimers disease.

Look around you folks, this is how most of these people in positions of power think. I mean we're really not that far off are we?
