Federal stimulus helped eliminate rail bottleneck : Stltoday
"Made possible by federal stimulus program grants, completion of the
$28 million project means the entire Union Pacific rail line through
eastern Missouri now is double tracked. No more time-consuming delays
for trains having to wait their turn to funnel into a single track to
cross the river.
For travelers, the new bridge enhances the on-time performance of the
four daily Amtrak trains between St. Louis and Kansas City. Even
better, the estimated 60 daily freight trains that share this major line
of the Union Pacific (which contributed about $6 million to the
project) benefit from improved shipping times and productivity."
