The Hill reports House Democrats are lining up against a stopgap spending bill that would keep automatic budget cuts known as the sequester. Republican leaders have been preparing such a bill if a House-Senate budget conference falls apart. While the heads of that committee continue to talk, there’s no deal yet, and opposition to a stopgap bill raises the prospect of a shutdown in mid-January.
Can President Barack Obama be an effective advocate for his health-care law? Will Republicans stay out of their own way? Those are two of the Washington Post’s five biggest political questions for the next stage of the Obamacare debate.
