In the week ending December 7, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was
368,000, an increase of 68,000 from the previous week's revised figure
of 300,000. The 4-week moving average was 328,750, an increase of 6,000
from the previous week's revised average of 322,750.

The
advance number of actual initial claims under state programs,
unadjusted, totaled 461,422 in the week ending December 7, an increase
of 146,241 from the previous week. There were 429,188 initial claims in the comparable week in 2012.
