The Associated Press
reports President Barack Obama will call for ending the government’s
control of phone data from millions of Americans. The move is a
significant change to the National Security Agency’s controversial bulk
phone-record collection program. An administration official told the AP
that Obama won’t recommend who should control the phone data but will
instead call on the attorney general, Congress and the intelligence
community to decide.
Environmental groups are parting ways with the Obama administration on energy policy, the Washington Post
reports. The Sierra Club and 17 other groups argue that the White House
needs to apply a strict climate test to all of its energy decisions or
risk undermining one of Obama’s top second-term priorities.
Republicans Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan are looking at the earned-income tax credit as a way of helping lower-income workers, Politico reports. It’s their response to Democrats’ demands to raise the U.S. minimum wage.
Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma is retiring early, Roll Call
reports. The Republican, waging a fourth battle with cancer, had
pledged not to seek another term in 2016. He’ll now step down at the end
of the current Congress, this year. Oklahoma will need to hold a
special election to fill the seat.
Careful his Lips are moving. This is positive news Mr President so can you now VETO the National Defense Authorization Act that authorizes you to detain American Illegally which you signed into law last month or is this asking for too much?
