Beretta saying buh-bye to Maryland

Beretta U.S.A. says it will move all its U.S. firearms production to Tennessee. The company had originally planned a Tennessee operation as an expansion, and initially planned to keep existing Maryland manufacturing operations in place.

Maryland's recent passage of broad gun control legislation forced the change from the original plan.

The Nashville Business Journal cites from the company's announcement:

“During the legislative session in Maryland that resulted in passage of the Firearm Safety Act of 2013, the version of the statute that passed the Maryland Senate would have prohibited Beretta U.S.A. from being able to manufacture, store or even import into the state products that we sell to customers throughout the United States and around the world," (General Manager Jeff) Cooper said in today's news release.

Once again, ill-advised gun control legislation puts good people out of work in gun restrictive states, while moving good jobs to gun-friendly states.
