U.S. home prices rise 1.1% in May amid signs of waning pressure - MarketWatch
U.S. house prices rose 1.1% in May, according to the Case-Shiller
20-city composite index released Tuesday, with every city showing gains.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, however, prices fell 0.3%. On a
year-on-year basis, price growth decelerated to a 9.3% rate from 10.8%
in April, marking the slowest rate since February 2013. The index is
designed to track the value of a single-family home.
Nothing to see here folks, Running into a period where yoy comparisons are gong to be tougher. The
only thing keeping the headline numbers positive is the decreased
volume favoring more a expensive mix.
How does housing go up in "value" without median family income also rising? It cannot, except through two mechanisms -- ever-falling rates and fraud.
