Harley-Davidson Inc. plans to lay off about 250 employees in the fourth quarter as part of a reorganization CEO Matt Levatich says will keep the company on top of its industry.
The motorcycle
manufacturer's third quarter earnings call with analysts Tuesday morning
had one main theme: reversing the trend of downward sales — global
motorcycle sales dropped 1.4 percent and profits fell 6.5 percent in the third quarter — by making major investments in growing demand.
