Layoff roll

Monsanto Co. - 1,000

Facing a still sluggish farming economy, Creve Coeur-based agricultural giant Monsanto Co. said in a regulatory filing Wednesday that it will shed an additional 1,000 jobs as part of a cost-cutting effort announced originally in October.
The layoffs, combined with the 2,600 that Monsanto committed to this fall, amount to 16 percent of the company’s global workforce, officials said in the filing.

Solar panel installer SolarCity SCTY -0.73% said it would cut 550 jobs in Nevada, two weeks after the state’s utilities commission approved changes that would reduce credits customers receive for selling excess solar power to the grid.
The company, which has more than 13,000 employees, said it would relocate the affected workers to business-friendly states.

Update: DuPont Co. Experimental Station - 200

DuPont Co. laid off about 200 scientists in its Central Research and Development division at the Experimental Station on Monday, according to sources familiar with the facility's operations.
Those job losses, said to include doctorate holders and technicians, account for nearly half of the Experimental Station's central research staff. DuPont's two core research and development functions – material sciences and molecular sciences – were said to be gutted, reportedly leaving only 16 doctorate holders among the two business units.

 Princess Yachts - 350

Princess Yachts are to cut 350 jobs out of 2000 as part of a large-scale restructuring of manufacturing at its Plymouth headquarters, the company announced today.
The cuts will affect the back office, development and production divisions.
However the luxury yacht manufacturers’ attendance at the Southampton, Ft Lauderdale and Cannes boat shows has proved beneficial and orders of their craft remains strong.
Princess will be attending The London Boat Show where they will launch the new Princess 75.
