Obama came in claiming fossil fuels were running out and, logically, the prices could only go up. As a result, he got a fracking revolution whose increased employment was one of the major reasons he made re-election victories in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Out of a desire to satisfy his climate-change constituents, Obama needlessly started a regulatory war against coal. This didn’t accomplish anything except making democrats the biggest enemy of the coal industry. One of his notable statements was “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.”
Obama’s mistakes don’t stop there; he pandered (or more suitable sucked up) to his green friends on the Keystone XL pipeline and as the result, the president-elect is going to inherit a natural gas fracking rebound and an infrastructure boom that the incoming administration will take credit for. As many analysts assume, Donald Trump’s biggest benefit is that he’s not Obama, not only will he avoid his mistakes, but also take credit for things that Obama didn’t complete but could prove fruitful. For instance, natural gas fracking is the force rebuilding the manufacturing opportunity in the Rust Belt and this progress is timed perfectly for the arrival of Mr. Trump.
Let’s not forget that Obama pays the price for climate gestures that were merely symbolic and have no effect on climate. These climate moves aren’t destined to survive his presidency and only prove that Barack Obama didn’t think things through before signing them. He wanted to make environmentalists happy without taking the time to consider whether those same papers he signed would change anything. The answer is: no, they have no impact on climate whatsoever. Other Obama’s mistakes include:
- Nearly doubling the national debt (he added more debt than previous presidents combined)
- Encouraging racial polarization and leaving the country deeply divided by racial tensions
- Losing the war in Iraq that the country has already won, Obama wanted to take credit for work done under Bush administration and went too far by pulling all forces from Iraq rather than leaving residual force like many other nations did
- He established good relations with certain nations only while Trump aims to improve the relationship between the US and Russia and many other countries
