President Donald Trump said he plans to meet with congressional Republicans on Tuesday to discuss “a possible payroll tax cut” as well as help for hourly wage earners at risk of missing paychecks because of fallout from the rapidly spreading coronavirus.
But congressional Democrats want much more than what the president is proposing.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer issued a list of demands on Monday, including paid sick leave, enhanced unemployment insurance, and expanded food assistance, including the SNAP, WIC, and school lunch programs.
