X-FLARE!

X-FLARE! So much for the forecast of "quiet." An active region near the sun's western limb has just unleashed an X1-class solar flare (April 25th at 0032 UT). NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash:
